FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering & Customization
Q: How do I order a custom engraved skillet?
A: Browse our collections and select the skillet size you'd like. During checkout, you'll be able to provide your custom design details, text, or image for engraving. We'll work with you to perfect your design before production.
Q: How do I send my design?
A: You can send your design via email at Legacymachineanddesign@gmail.com. You can also send a screenshot of a design you'd like yours similar to, or roughly sketch the layout you have in mind and send it through Facebook Messenger or text to 270-999-4764.
Q: What can you engrave on a skillet?
A: We can create custom 3D CNC machined designs including text, names, dates, logos, images, and intricate patterns. If you have a specific design in mind, contact us and we'll let you know if it's possible.
Q: How long does it take to receive my custom order?
A: Standard production time is 2-3 weeks from proof approval. Expedited processing is available for $30 and will ship within 5-7 days from proof approval, unless otherwise stated. Lead times may vary based on current order volume.
Q: Can I see a proof before you start machining?
A: Yes! We'll send you a digital proof of your design for approval before we begin production.
Q: Can I change my design after placing my order?
A: There is a $20 reprogramming fee for changing your design once we have programmed the one originally requested. Programming is timely and more involved than it may appear. The more accurately you can relay your design to us, the better. Be specific with punctuation, spelling, dates, font style, and date format - exactly as you'd like to see them. Most importantly, watch for your proof! Once you approve your proof, we move forward with your order. This not only gets you a beautiful product delivered faster, but it also keeps other orders moving along smoothly. It always helps to roughly sketch out your design in a circle and share it with us - seeing your design on paper really helps!
Q: Can I expedite my order?
A: Yes! We now offer expedited processing as an option at checkout. This speeds up the production process within our shop to get your order out faster. We schedule staff beyond regular hours to process expedited orders. There is a $30 fee for this service, and your order will ship within 5-7 days from proof approval. Please note: this expedites production in our shop, not the shipping carrier's delivery time. See details in the product description.
Q: Can I cancel my order after it has been programmed?
A: If your order has not been machined yet, it can be canceled. However, there will be a $20 programming fee that will still be collected, as programming is a portion of what makes up the total cost of your customized product. If your order has already been machined, it is past the point of being eligible for cancellation.

Product Information
Q: What brands of skillets do you use?
A: We use Lodge and Victoria brand cast iron skillets, known for their quality and durability.
Q: How are skillet sizes measured?
A: Skillets are measured across the rim. For example, a 12" skillet measures 10" across the bottom cooking surface.
Q: What is porosity that causes cosmetic blemishes in cast iron?
A: Porosity in casting refers to small voids or holes in a metal component that form during the casting process as the material changes from liquid to solid. This natural phenomenon is found in many metal components and is especially common in aluminum and magnesium die castings.
Q: Will porosity affect the cooking quality of my skillet?
A: Not at all. Porosity creates only minor cosmetic blemishes that will darken with use and seasoning, blending naturally with the rest of the pan over time.
Q: Will the engraving affect cooking performance?
A: No. Our 3D CNC machining creates beautiful designs while maintaining the skillet's cooking performance and durability.
Q: How do I care for my engraved cast iron skillet?
A: Care for your custom skillet the same way you would any cast iron - season regularly, hand wash, and dry thoroughly. The engraving is permanent and will not fade or go away. The design will only darken with additional seasoning and use, creating a beautiful patina over time.
Q: Can the skillets be used for cooking or are they decorative only?
A: Our custom skillets are fully functional cookware! While many customers display them, they're designed to be used and will last for generations.
