Cast Iron Care Instructions

Your custom engraved cast iron is built to last for generations with proper care.

Seasoning Your Cast Iron

  • New cast iron comes pre-seasoned but will improve with use
  • After each use, apply a thin layer of cooking oil while the pan is still warm
  • The engraved design will darken beautifully as you season and use your cast iron, creating a rich patina over time

Cleaning

  • Hand wash only - never put cast iron in the dishwasher
  • Use hot water and a stiff brush or scraper to remove food
  • For stubborn residue, use coarse salt as a gentle abrasive
  • Dry thoroughly immediately after washing to prevent rust
  • Apply a light coat of cooking oil after each cleaning

Cooking Tips

  • Preheat your cast iron gradually for even heating
  • Use medium to medium-high heat (cast iron retains heat exceptionally well)
  • Your engraved design will not affect cooking performance
  • Your cast iron is fully functional - cook with confidence!

What to Avoid

  • Never soak cast iron in water
  • Avoid harsh detergents or steel wool
  • Don't put cold water in a hot pan (thermal shock can cause cracking)
  • Skip the dishwasher

Restoring Your Cast Iron

If your cast iron develops rust or loses its seasoning:

  1. Scrub with steel wool to remove rust
  2. Wash and dry thoroughly
  3. Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil or shortening
  4. Bake upside down at 350°F for one hour
  5. Let cool in the oven

About Your Engraving

Your custom 3D CNC machined design is permanent and will not fade or disappear. The engraving will darken with seasoning and use, creating a beautiful contrast that enhances over time. This is normal and adds to the character of your heirloom piece.
